Founders Honors 2009 Laura Fleming ScholarsOn Tuesday, May 12, 2009, Founders Federal Credit Union honored the 2009 Laura M. Fleming Scholarship recipients during the credit union’s Annual Meeting held at the Baxter Hood Center of York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Three recipients were chosen from over 70 applicants. The three recipients are Mallen Urso from Clover High School in Clover, SC, Michelle Robles from Fort Mill High School in Fort Mill, SC and Kimberly Davis from Chester High School in Chester, SC. Each recipient will receive $1,000 per year to attend the college or university of their choice.
The Laura M. Fleming Scholarship Fund was established by Founders Federal Credit Union in memory of its former President and CEO. The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to provide undergraduate scholarships to the children of Founders Federal Credit Union members to attend an accredited college, vocational or technical school of their choice. It provides funding to gifted future leaders, in the spirit of Founders former leader.
“Like Laura, these future leaders possess determination and enthusiasm,” said Bruce Brumfield, President and CEO of Founders Federal Credit Union. “They also have the motivation to achieve extraordinary results and live an extraordinary life, as did Laura Fleming.”
